Since we're on our map project in design media principles, I've been looking up maps for inspiration. I recently came across this. It is very basic and simple, but I really enjoy looking at it. I think its because it is SO basic that I like it. Its very modern, and though theres no color variation I can still easily understand everything. I plan to keep this in my inspiration folder for sure.
Federal Reserve Chart
This graph really caught my eye. Theres a lot of what would normally be boring information on here, but I just couldn't help from looking at it! This perfectly displays good flow and function. It is entirely straightforward, and the color balance is perfect.
Chinese Graphic Design
I thought this was a really nice composition, though I'm not quite sure what it says exactly. I do enjoy seeing the cellophane-style of the characters and how they're layered between to phrases (i think?). I feel if you were to put on 3d glasses and look through the red, you would see one phrase, another through the blue, and then another when both are looked through. Talk about interaction between the viewer and the design!
MoMA
These large banners are featured in New York promoting the Museum of Modern Art. (MoMA). The design firm behind these beautiful banners is Pentagram, a New York based design firm that has done many global designs for corporations all over the world. I feel this is one of the greatest posts I've put up, for I feel this is one of my favorite compositions. I am pulled into this piece by the bold font in different positions, the faces all following the same rhythm but overall completely different, and the mixture of colors that still follow a cool toned palette. This is a good one.
I've Got Strings
I found this while looking around on a forum where graphic designers can post work they produce in their free time just for fun or to fill their artistic needs. This was a composition done by Roberto Blake entirely out of stock images. I felt it was a good use of resources to create a well balanced and catchy work of art.
Graphic Design Referenced
This is the cover to a book that discusses the history of graphic design and what graphic design is about for those who are looking to learn. This book covers design fundamentals, basic aspects of what graphic design includes, what influenced graphic design and made it what it is today, and a very attractive book cover.
Nocturnal Groove Flyer
I found this flyer on the internet awhile back and archived it. This was a flyer for a list of DJ's performing at a nightclub in London. I really like how simple it is yet its very, very attractive to the eyes. Maybe its the color? I'm not too sure, but whatever it may be I could honestly say I would like to shape my works upon this form of design.
